So long #HNBFF, the signal cannot stop.

Special thanks to my heroes over the last few weeks, The fellows at helpnathanbuyfirefly.com. In what seemed like a dream come true or a movement worth of late-night news, ships came out of the night sky and pulled the community (at least the ones who wanted to come along) into a wild ride.

Nearly a day after opening up the facebook page, there were hundreds, thousands, soon tens of thousands of followers and the number kept climbing like an odometer; the odometer watching us roll. The mystery continued, tweets flying here and there, mysterious facebook posts, ideas of how to fund our idea . . . and not to mention all of the media coverage. Even though I had no part in the actual site, I felt honored to be pushing out the signal as far as I could.

In what seemed like a short hop-skip-and-jump, there was pledge ideas, more ideas and accusations of: fraud, scamming, and a lot of butt-hurt Whedonesque.com users getting angry and riled up. Things were about to hit the fan.

All this time the rest of the world was quiet, if not wide-eyed, wondering just what we were going to do next . . . win . . . lose . . . reboot the game, there was no idea at all where it was going and the fun of it was running back to the facebook.com fan-page to wait for the next update, the next article; and then came the pledge.

The pledge was up so fast, I believe it caught most people off guard. The pledge link on facebook was constantly buried under the onslaught of links, posts, pictures, and speculation; but the link kept surfacing, sent along the twitter-verse (I know I did, a lot . . . google buzz too **don't laugh**), and attacked by Whedonesque. While our spirit was not stomped down, and our moral was not destroyed, the admins fought back almost as quickly as the "trolling" started and rolled it back to real life. More fraud accusations, and unsure fans, nearly doomed the pledge to utter failure early on . . . it was only after the thought of a corporation, that the site, and the movement, was finally struck its final blow.

That the final blow was struck, not by Joss, not by Nathan, not even by Fox; but Joss Whedon's sister-in-law, was apparently all that HNBFF could take. The fact that that message was repeated by the critics and with no explanation other than, "don't give money", which we [the community] never took to begin with. While they did promise that they would stop as soon as Joss and Nathan said "no" http://bit.ly/gGdc9a (it's there in the first few posts of the first page). After the revelation I saw an explosin in anger, hatred, and the "will to carry on the torch", (I will admit that I helped add to the anger). Soon the page was left feeling empty, and the comments were locked, and then when we least wanted to, we all came to the final conclusion that, even though it wasn't truely Joss Whedon himself to strike the movement down, but his unseen hand he heaved against us by his community.

It was at that time, HNBFF died . . . no, not dead, I don't give up so easily.

So as we go about our days now, as we look back across the sea of words and the floods of messages; take happiness in the notion that from: February 17th 2011 until March 7th 2011, we were one big family again, a huge group of "big damn heroes" that stood up against those who would rather see us wriggle away, but we've already left our mark . . . we can't be forgotten now so easily. So remember that for 19 days we won.

Very well said!! The true 113,764 fans/followers of HNBF hopefully feel the way we do. I'm going to continue following the site hoping something will happen in the future!

I agree, you've captured the spirit of that moment perfectly. It really was great to see the family together and enjoying each others company.

I tried to get a poll going so that we could get a hard count of our numbers for the studios, but the Science channels forum tools kept losing it as I posted it up.http://community.discovery.com/eve/forums/a/frm/f/92719799701 I finally got it online, but only one day before the meltdown. Over 500 ppl took the poll, but there were over 100,000 ppl that I didn't get to poll. I wish we could get them back, but the moment has passed for now.

I dream of building a studio with a full Serenity set that could be maintained permanently so that fans could visit and Joss and company could film whenever the various members could squeeze in a scene.

If I could find a cheap location with a big enough building I would seriously consider doing it. I would have to raise the money through donations or stock, but it would be a grand project to be sure.

    Keep on keep'in on,

    Roger Kea

Sorry for the continuation post, but I noticed that if I did a search for HNBFF, the first result is the parody I helped to write that is posted here:http://community.discovery.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/92719799701/m/50019233801

This post only has 236 views, but the poll I put up on the same forum has 14,000 views. Is there a way to get that poll to show up instead? Or whenever a Firefly related keyword is searched? I would love to see more ppl officially counted. If the numbers in the poll get high enough, it could spark a similar flame.
